Will you please describe the typical work day of a Portfolio Manager and give your feedback?

Hello everyone, Thank you for taking the time to respond to the question. I am currently considering a career change from HR consulting to portfolio management after obtaining a MBA with a Certification in Finance from Colorado State University in May 2017. What is the best route to obtain the goal and can you describe the typical work day of a portfolio manager? (active and passive if possible) How many years of experience did you have when you first became a portfolio manager? What should I do to separate myself from others competing in the same job market?
