How much would you give up on your base salary to have an extra week? Would you give up an existing week of vacation for a certain price?

If I read this properly, would I take a weeks less pay for an extra week of vacation or in the alternative would I accept 53 weeks of pay if I took one less week of vacation.
For many they might as well take 53 weeks of pay for 1 less week since many busy executives never take their vacation weeks.
I, on the other hand, feel one should take their vacations as it allows you to decompress and refresh yourself. Failure to relax IMHO is one the major causes of heart disease and strokes.
I can't see a general answer to this question, as every one has different factors specific to their situation. But I agree with Wayne. The value of a vacation/time off should not be under estimated.
For a company - when an individual takes two weeks off consecutively (my banking background) you are able to better understand their contributions, as well as the holes in your process, if you had to do without them.

I agree with Wayne. As one of those individuals who have not taken their full complement of vacation time in years, 53 weeks of pay in lieu of one week of vacation seems like a good trade. That being said, I also agree that time off is critical to your personal well-being and work attitude.
