What PEO provider do you recommend?

Good question, Barbara.
In addition to recommendations to narrow the field, you might also get some value from this free
It has some interesting insights.
Enjoy! Best... Sarah
I have heard great reviews (never used) about Ambrose PEO and Oasis Outsourcing. During your quest, look for the ESAC accredited PEOs (www.esacorp.org)
Barbara,
Does this include Dubai? If so, perhaps I/we can reach out to our peers working there and find a specialist?
Algentis and Emplicity are two others that I like and have considered working with domestically. I've got one company on Tri-Net...they are fine domestically (no better or worse than the others), but I would not use them for your overseas ops.
Cheers,
Keith
This would be domestic only. International are Franchise stores.
There Needa ro be a distinction here. If you are looking for a one stop shop for payroll, benefits and HR there are two solutions.
One is the PEO where your employees become employees of the PEO and this allows the medical cost to be based on the overall population of the PEO. With this you get a broader choice of plans. TRINET falls into this bucket
The other is someone like an Algentis where your employees are still yours. In this case the medical benefits are based on the demographics of your employees. With this you will get a limited choice of plans. If you have a very young employee base this option may be much less costly than a PEO.
ADP has a PEO option as well.
I have worked with both Algentis and TRINET and can recommend them both.
I've used TriNet for my company and we actually switched to AdminiStaff which is now, Insperity to try and save on health benefits, but only lasted a few months before switching back to TriNet. We've been very happy with TriNet and their process is extremely efficient and friendly. We are geographically spread out and TriNet is very friendly to that with a process that is
I have heard that using a PEO is harder to use in some states than others - meaning laws that govern their activities are more stringent (costly) in certain states. Any truth to that? Comments?
Insperity (formerly Administaff) has been the PEO for my company for six years. Insperity follows the co-employer model. Getting equivalent health insurance options for a 15 person firm with employees in NJ and IA is impossible to do without using a PEO. Insperity payroll and business services teams have a knack for figuring out how and how much you wish them to do for you which I find very effective and helpful. I recommend them.
CoAdvantage, headquartered in Orlando but operating nationally provides very good customer service, pricing, and a comprehensive package of services.

is that solution cost effective? what is the pricing model they use (service, one time fee etc) and do they have any mobile apps?
Most of them will give you break down of costs. They are very difficult to compare due to the fact that they each include different things or not. So, you need to be prepared to add a number of other factors that you pay now, like short term disability to certain PEO providers but not to others. So, it is a bit of work to break down a comparison. Our analysis came down to a few factors, we are small but have employees in 20 states, so the administration cost of the various employment filings for us would be significant and the various healthcare challenges that are inherent in such a geographically disparate group, as well as the cost of the healthcare.
I run a medical practice and have been using Leading Edge PEO out of Florida for the past 8 months. The transition from our previous PEO to LELG PEO was very smooth for us and our employees. Additionally this change was a cost-savings decision, therefore we are very happy. Give them a call.

If anyone has any experience with the PEO administered by Tandem HR in the Chicago area, I would appreciate your comments and feedback. Thanks.
I posted a blog, on this site, regarding working with PEO vendors. Depending on your experience, you may find it interesting - A PEO is not a “Set it and Forget it Process.”
Good luck.
Having worked at a PEO for five years, as far as in my area I can recommend, Pete Eddington ([email protected]) at SOI and Robert Cerone ([email protected]) at Laurus Strategies
I've been with ADP TotalSource for a few years and am currently taking bids for renewals. We've been very happy with the service and benefits offered by TotalSource, but I'm trying to get a sense of their relative cost in the market.
I'm getting bids from Insperity and also SOI. I'm wondering whether anyone has recent experience with either of these PEO providers.
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thank you

Our new PEO situation has shaped up quite well and I will be back to provide details about our experience with ADP Total Source.
Why not turn your review into a Proformative Exchange Review (See the menu system up-top)
We've used both ADP Total Source and Ambrose. Ambrose by far offered the best in class service for the price. They offer great benefit options, and their support team is extremely knowledgeable and great to work with.
Xenium Resources. I recommended them to my current employer after having excellent service from them at a previous employer. In the last 4 years, they've gotten us through triple digit headcount growth, plant closures, and everything in between. They provide seminars for our managers to keep us up to date on H/R legal issues. Their account manager to us functions as a member of our executive team. Their payroll group is very, very responsive on those tricky payroll issues that always seem to come up. I can't speak highly enough of their service.
I just signed up Insperity for one of the startups I am involved with. I have used them in previous companies and they have been solid. Their is not flashy about them; they are more conservative but I don't need flashy for someone that handles my payroll and HR.
I used Trinet at a small ($2.5M revenue) business for two years and recommend them highly - nice combination of attractive pricing and excellent service.
CoAdvantage, based out of Florida, has worked great for our group. We switched from TriNet 2 years back and the transition was smooth and painless, great customer service.
We are a 30 person, private employer and have used both ADP TotalSource and TriNet. We have been relying on PEO partnership for about six years and have been with ADP TotalSource for five of the six years. We left TotalSource for a year to give TriNet an opportunity because of their very competitive pricing proposal. However, what we found was that many services were on a fee for service basis, including custom reporting, and
Xenium Resources is an excellent group. A very solid resource.
We use Oasis Outsourcing and are very pleased with them. I find them to be one of the better PEO's out there, providing outstanding customer service (even though they are the 2nd largest).
I just went with Insperity with a startup I co-founded. I used them in a previous job for 6 years and had a relatively good experience. I think the only issue I have had with them is when you get into some very complex HR issues. Given they are not physically at the office it sometimes is difficult for them to understand the culture.
I recently reviewed one of my startup's existing Algentis platform versus 3 PEOs - Trinet, Insperity, and Sequoia One, along with a benefit broker solution. Reasoning- Algentis is similar to small company benefit plans in that we cannot access the broader size/scope of PEO pricing for our benefits, and thus felt a bit high on our cost model. That said, I did like the service from Algentis, no complaint there.
Based on the need of having some outsourced support for benefits and payroll to keep internal staff lean, I opted for the PEO model instead of brokerage model. Insperity appeared to be the best price, Sequoia One was perceived as the best service, similar to Algentis. We ended up using Trinet, via a referral partner broker, as a middle of the road solution. This referral partner gives me some 'insurance' that if Trinet isn't responsive, I can use the broker's 'hotline' to get attention. Will let you know how it goes, and I hope this is of some help to others.
Hi Jeff,
Any updated on your experience? We will be looking at PEOs over the next few months.
