Hi, My company does a lot of work with universities and research institutions. I am helping out with the accounting for this. As an example, we have a contract for $120K for a 12 month period, even recognition. If after month 6, where we already recognized 60K in cost, we sign an amendment for a no cost extension for another 6 months, should the remaining $60k be allocated across the remaining period month 6-12 and no cost extension month 1-6? or should the $60k be spread over months 6-12 and $0 recognized for the no cost extension?
