Is it Time to Require Collateral and Margin Accounts for FX Forwards?

There’s nothing like an ongoing debt crisis to send jitters into those that manage treasury. Although it’s seldom used, it may be time to think about setting a margin or collateral requirement for any business that you’re doing abroad—especially in countries that might see rapid fluctuation in their currency in the coming months. Is this something you’re thinking about or planning for?

This may be a requirement for certain firms under Dodd-Frank, though it's still up in the air how the legislation will be read as it goes into effect.
