Interview Skills, Tips And Techniques That Win The Job
Answers
Traditional interview skills and techniques will set you apart -
1) Seek information and be able to speak intelligently about the potential employer;
2) Prepare for the interview with a presentation that you leave behind;
3) Always write a thank you note; and,
4) Follow-up, Follow-up, Follow-up.
I'd add sit up straight, don't fidget, mostly keep hands folded and relaxed. Strike a balance in eye contact between locked staring and looking away. Blinking generally goes up and down with heart rate. So try to slow that down a little to telegraph less nervousness. Some people speak faster when nervous. So, consider slowing that down a little as well. Be friendly in a business-like way. Remember "please" and "thank you."
In today's world of social media if does not hurt to Google the person interviewing you alongside your general research of the company. It may make you feel more comfortable with the individual as you will have already put a name and face together and potentially gleaned some clues into their background. I would not mention that you've done this however, nor would I cross the line between professional and personal.
