Income and Cash Flow Forecasting Tools

I’ve used Excel extensively over the years for income and cash flow forecasting but it has a number of shortcomings – notably that balance sheet changes are not automatically reflected and Excel links can be broken inadvertently. I’m aware of a couple of enterprise solutions such as Host Analytics and Adaptive Planning but our company is not of that scale yet. Can anyone recommend a better solution for small to medium sized businesses? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

If you're using Xero or Quickbooks Online, some of my favorite forecasting tools are Crunchboards and Spotlight Reporting. They both can integrate with your accounting system and allow you to do in-depth reporting and forecasting.

I found a new integration called Float (floatapp.com) which connects to Quickbooks Online or Xero and is specifically for cash flow forecasting. The integration works beautifully and it has the ability to create budgets/scenarios/etc easily. For cash flow-specific forecasting, this is now my go-to.
