I currently own my own tax business due to taking it over when my mother in law passed away last year. However, my background is Accounting, including I have my Masters in Accounting. I was on Disability for the last 6 years though after I got my degree so been working from home for awhile. I am ready to get back into the work field but recruiters have told me that basically my experience is too old. I am thinking of once I finish my Enrolled Agent certification I am working on (too much money to just quit it) that I will go for my CPA as I have the college hours for it. However, I will need the working hours after I pass the exam (Confident that I will). Here is my questions: 1) How do you get someone to hire you to get the 1000 hours that you need under a CPA ? Is there a specific job search or trick that you look for? 2) Why is the fact that I've been out of the accounting field so long such a hindrance, I haven't forgotten anything. I wish that businesses still did working interviews so that I could show them that I still know how to do reconciliations and how to do payables. 3) Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I should do in order to find a job now? I can't survive of just tax season. We are getting sorta desperate over here lol.
