At the end of each free CPE webcast there is a short questionnaire that includes a question asking if you would like to talk with the presenters directly. Sometimes Proformative will follow up in an e-mail basically making the same request. Overall I don't find these requests to be intrusive. Generally I am pleased with the webcasts I have attended.
When the CPE certificates arrive, I print and file by reporting period, so I don't have a problem keeping up with the tracking.

Yes, our events are sponsored, but as our sponsors will tell you, we are insistent that our events are purely educational in content (unless they are announced as otherwise, such as with our tech demo series - in which case they are not eligible for free CPE credit). We diligently edit all educational content in our rigorous editing process - even when it comes from wholly independent third-party speakers and practitioners, as we frequently have CFOs, Controllers, Treasurers and others speak at our events at our or a sponsor's request.
Alas, this doesn't prevent every mention of a product or service, because the speakers are still there talking and they are able to say what they want during the program. But they know that pure, high-quality, experience-based education is what they are supposed to be delivering and by and large that is what is delivered consistently.
Having presided at over 250 such events over the past three years, I find that they do a very good job at educating without a tinge of bias or selling. Even if these events were as expensive as other sources instead of being completely free, I don't think you could find a better source for finance,
