What is the right salary level for the Executive Assistant to the
Executive Assistant Pay
Answers
For a truly qualified assistant, we paid about $65K in Marin County.
I've seen it as high as 75-80K for people whom have served under public CEOs in CA.
I've seen higher right here in the SF Bay Area. But that was at private employers and "non-profit" health care organizations.
One must look at the entire compensation package. That varies quite a bit from organization to organization. But, speaking only of pay is a fools errand these days. Benefits and other non-compensatory considerations, once "standard" everywhere depending on the size of the organization, now vary quite a bit from employer to employer and thus, must be taken into account.
To wit: How about those 3%@50 defined benefit retirement plans for some public employees. How much salary would you give up to get in on these plans?
In the interest of full disclosure, I may be biased: The cost of benefits at my organization has now exceeded 80% of salaries! As CFO, I get absolutely no traction when I campaign to rein these costs in. We are a public agency and, the CEO likes her share of these benefits (25% of salary employer contribution to her defined contribution 401(a) plan) and, also enjoys doling out taxpayer dollars to favored employees. There is absolutely no oversight of local agencies such as us. ;-(
