What are some effective strategies for keeping up with your CPE requirements?

Join and participate in a local group that provides these credits with their events. It allows you to network with peers, earn CPE, and get out of the office for a valued event usually on a monthly basis. Some groups even offer one-two day sessions providing 8-16 CPE credits. This way you are regularly keeping on track accumulating the total CPE you need. I can't say enough about the networking. You are introduced to others who might know of job opportunities for you, people you can speak to about locating candidates for your office, peers to speak to when you have technical questions, etc.

And, of course, when time runs tight, you can do the on-line CPE courses.

Most, if not all, of the Big 4 CPA firms offer CPE webcasts where they cover timely topics and have very knowledgeable speakers. The webcasts are typically an hour in duration and you can participate right at your desk. They offer them at no cost to the participant. If you have a relationship with one or more of the Big 4 firms, it is a great way to pick up quality CPE and very convenient.
