Controller vs. Corporate Controller

I am trying to do a wage study for a position I may receive an offer on. It is for a Controller in a Corporate office setting. What is the difference between a plain Controller and a Corporate Controller? I am seeing different wages for both within the same wage studies. Would not anything that is not a Divisional or Regional Controller be a Corporate Controller? Or if there are no other Controller types in a company does that then make you just a Controller?

Most of the time, it is just a name or title. But if you really want to break it down, it all depends on company size and organizational structure. Say you have manufacturing plants each with their own controllers, the corporate controller would be in charge of consolidation and as well as supervisory function for all the other plant controllers.

The wide disparity in compensation is largely attributable to the following:
1. Industry 2. Size of company 3. Number of direct reports
