What are CFO success stories that land the job or promotion?

I have always found the key is hard work, lot's of dedication, own it, and never take a job for money. Take it because your passionate about what you do. If you are serious about it; you will prove your worth in time and earn what you are worth.

My success story would be starting as an accounting assistant making well below what the current Min. wage is set to. I decided early on that I wanted to be the one in the office making the big decisions. I made a point to get my work done and ask the Controller if there was anything she needed help with. By doing that, I learned how to "code" the payable invoices, enter basic journal entries, reconcile accounts. I loved it. She would leave for a meeting and come back and all the invoices would be coded and recorded. When she decided to leave the company; it was an easy roll to fill. I did the same thing in every other transitional roll I ever took and eventually the path led me to where I am now.
