I've been approached on several occasions these last few years by Career Consulting & Job Search firms. Simply, I pay them, they "work" with me to develop the "right" resume, interview techniques as well as introduce me to the "non-published" jobs in their marketplace. One of the large "sale" points is they have entree to the "hidden job market". They also claim to help you position yourself so you can reach your desired goals, whether in an industry or a position. Interesting enough, they all price themselves at about $7-10K with of course no guarantee. Some offer web pages on their site, so many hours of consultation, etc. So my questions are these:
- Have you been approached by these types of firms?
- Have you used these types of firms?
- If you have, was it money well spent?
