Alternatives for small purchases other than Paypal?

PayPal does seem to dominate the space - what is the motivation for looking for alternatives?

Thanks, David. The topic emerged in another expert's forum in which I participate. I personally only have had experience with checks, the usual card suspects and Paypal. So I was looking for other users' experience.

As mentioned PayPal has the market share. I also used Google Checkout and have been pleased.

Linda, I didn't see SquareUp above.
Square is pretty robust, without the gaping holes of PayPal.
(paypal is quite dangerous for small businesses)
